Spring 2018 Graduation

Congratulations to the Spring 2018 NC State BAE graduates! The department awarded bachelor of science degrees in Agricultural and Environmental Technology (AET) and in Biological Engineering (BE) as well as degrees in the graduate program, the master of science in Biological and Agricultural Engineering.

Dr. Becky Boston, Assistant Director of the North Carolina Agricultural Research Center, delivered greetings from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Boston passed along her congratulations to the class and reiterated that the BAE department at NC State is one of the best in the nation. She was followed by student speaker, Dani Winter. Winter reminded students to pace themselves and to plan for the unplanned. And she reminded her fellow graduates that they never have to go it alone.

Then came the degrees. Dr. Andy Hale awarded the undergraduates with their diplomas and presented the AET and BE senior awards after reminding students of his signature catchphrase, “Every day is a holiday.”

Dr. Michael Boyette and Dr. Mari Chinn awarded the Superior Senior Design Award to The Pine Biners: Ben Cauthen, Ben Cranfill, Alex Greeson, Matthew Parker and Will Marsh. Their innovative design of a pine straw mulch processing machine was hailed as one of the best projects to ever come out of the program.

ASABE Student Honor Awards were given by Dr. Praveen Kolar before Alex Greeson presented the department with the senior class gift, a large double level bench.

The ceremony was capped off by a charge to graduates from Dr. Garry Grabow and Dr. Garey Fox.
