About the Workshop
The veritable wet pond has undergone design changes throughout its illustrious history, including the additions of forebays and littoral shelves in the past 2-3 decades and codification of design by way of MDC’s (in North Carolina) just 5 years ago. A new round of pond innovations is “sweeping the nation” now as a means of taking a solid practice and making it better. These design and management improvements focus on important issues such as flood reduction, erosion avoidance and nutrient trapping. Moreover, the pond’s close cousin, the constructed stormwater wetland is itself undergoing some transformations that are designed to lower costs or increase its usage footprint.
Come join NC State BAE faculty and staff as 7 different pond and wetland technologies/ management strategies are reviewed in this brand-new workshop series.
