Message Regarding Coronavirus & Certification Extension
Out of an abundance of caution for our attendees and staff, we are not scheduling any additional workshops at this time. As we move into the fall, we will make a determination about whether to offer additional workshops after September. It will be announced once that determination has been made. Because of this potential inconvenience, we are extending the expiration date for all whose certifications expire in 2019 or 2020 until December 31, 2021. There are no plans to offer this workshop virtually at this time. For current information about the status of other workshops, please visit the Workshops and Conferences Homepage.

This is a sample schedule of the workshop to demonstrate the topics that will be covered. Actual schedules, including start and end times, may vary from class to class. Please refer to the workshop registration page and your confirmation email for times.
Below are additional resources available through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.
To continue the certification beyond the original 3 years, certified professionals must attend Update workshops that will be offered throughout North Carolina. There is NO reexamination associated with the 5-hour Update courses. To qualify for the Update course to receive recertification, certifications must be current or have expired within the last 2 years. Participants whose certifications expired over 2 years ago must retake the regular class and exam. Please have your certificate number ready when registering for an Update workshop, it is a required part of the registration process. Upon completion of the Update workshop, attendees will receive an updated inspector card, good for up to 3 years (the remaining portion of the year in which the class is taken, plus the following 2 years).
NOTE: The workshop and conference coordinators do not have the manpower nor the software to send you notifications or emails when your certification is about to expire. Please be responsible and make the necessary reminders or other arrangements for yourself to keep your certification active. No concessions will be made, especially at the end each year, for those who were not mindful to manage their own certification. We are only able to offer this workshop a limited number of times a year, across the state, and each workshop has a limited number of seats available. Again, please plan accordingly to maintain an active and valid certification.
Professional Development Hours
Based on previous workshops, it is estimated that the following professional development hours will be awarded after the successful completion of the workshop. A certificate of attendance will be emailed after the workshop, listing these PDHs:
