Faculty Improve Engineering Education Techniques

Assistant professors Sierra Young and Lucie Guertault were chosen for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) ExCEEd Teaching workshop. This workshop is a six day practicum that provides engineering educators with an opportunity to improve their teaching abilities. The workshop has been held by ASCE each summer for the last 19 years and has benefitted members across the country and the world.

Recently, assistant professors Natalie Nelson and Celso Castro Bolinaga have attended the workshop.

Learning objectives in the workshop include exploring learning styles, assessing student learning, assessing class from a student’s perspective, how to effectively organize a class and how to self assess your own class.

Sierra Young will take part in the workshop at the University of Nebraska and Lucie Guertault will attend the workshop at West Point.
