Rally In Raleigh Recap

Each year a school in the southeast hosts the ASABE Southeastern Regional Student Rally. ASABE Southeastern Regional President Justin Traenkle garnered support the 2019 Rally in Raleigh. The NC State BAE senior worked with junior Brie Saur, the regional treasurer, and the other regional presidents to host a successful Rally!

The planning committee at NC State consisted of Department Head Garey Fox, Business Services Coordinator Lacy Parrish, students Justin Treankle, Brie Saur, and faculty Sanjay Shah and Praveen Kolar.

The Rally program consisted of industry tours followed by dinner with Dean Richard Linton of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Dean Louis Martin-Vega of the College of Engineering.

Ray Best, BAE Outstanding Alumni, opened Saturday at Hunt Library with a keynote address followed by panels on graduate school, young alumni, the future of agriculture and ASABE. Afterwards, students had the opportunity to meet with potential employers for the BAE Spring Career Fair and tour Weaver Labs, meeting with our faculty and learning about their research along the way.

The annual Rally formal dinner and business meeting took place at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Downtown Raleigh. Sepi Saidi, Outstanding BAE alumna and the founder and CEO of SEPI Engineering delivered an inspiring keynote address. She emphasized the importance of vision, courage and tenacity and the role of engineers in making our communities a better place.
