Caleb Mitchell: Graduate Student of the Week

Who is your advisor and what are you studying?
Dr. Hunt is advising me on the study of a subsurface flow gravel wetland that treats and controls stormwater runoff.

What first made you interested in this field?
An internship in the Hydraulic and Drainage Unit at the West Virginia Department of Transportation and several water resources engineering professors that taught me fluid mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, environmental engineering, and water and wastewater treatment.

What do you like most about BAE as a field or the department?
The vast areas of research that are concerned with engineering natural solutions. From the sweaty field work to the brain-straining computations, BAE offers the best of both worlds.

What is a little known or fun fact about you?
I enjoy getting completely soaked while playing in the rain! Remember: the best door to have a foot in is the outdoors.
