Bryan M Maxwell: Graduate Student of the Week

Hometown

Los Angeles, CA

What are your previous degrees (major and university)?

Bachelor’s in Bio & Ag Engineering, NC State

Who is your adviser and what are you studying?

I am studying high-frequency water quality monitoring and nitrogen

management solutions with Dr. Francois Birgand.

What first made you interested in this field?

I started off in Civil Engineering at NCSU, but realized that I wanted to work more with biology and agriculture. I switched to BAE my junior year and have been here ever since.

What do you like most about BAE, the department, Weaver labs?

I really like being able to mesh field and lab work. I can be writing code in R in the morning and waist deep in a stormwater pond moving floating islands in the afternoon. The staff and faculty are also incredibly helpful.

What is a little known fact about you?

One of my teeth is fake after I had one knocked out in a rugby game playing for the State rugby club.  I never did find it. It’s still lost on a field somewhere on Clemson’s campus to this day…
