References Materials for the Exam

In 2006, the Engineering Licensure committee, ED-414, approved publication of the list of references that are sufficient for the exam.

For 2007 and future exams, a list of references that are sufficient for the exam will be made public. The list does not include basic topics such as calculus, fundamental mechanics, etc. Examinees must use their own judgement regarding such materials. The list assumes that the examinee has a good command of fundamentals and is competent to apply them using higher-level references.

Using the List

The list includes two or more references for each major area. Examinees should judge which of those they can competently use. Examinees will naturally choose the most advanced references in their fields of practice and may choose to take only the more fundamental references in those fields with which they are less familiar.
