There are nine general use lab areas in Weaver Labs and also faculty research equipped areas for studies in agriculture & mechanization, environment/soil & water engineering, and for bioprocessing research.

Part of a well rounded BAE engineering education is learning to function and use equipment in different lab environments. Below are views of some of the established Labs in the Weaver laboratory building.

Students use the laminator flow hood to take advantage of a sterile environment for their project.
Senior Design Lab

Above is partial view of the work area in the senior design lab. The brown bags seen on the work bench hold the first assignment of the semester. Each bag contains an object the students will use to render a 3-D Pro-Engineering drawing.

Students will be expected to make professional engineering presentations in their second semester of this capstone engineering course. This room is equiped with a ceiling mounted projector for students to practice with.
Main Lab

The department has several hydraulic load frame located in the main lab. These machines are designed for testing specimens under displacement, load, or strain control. The machines are rated from very low to 10,000 lbs.

This student works at autoclave to sterilize solid waste samples. Many animal waste management studies are being conducted at BAE.
Software Labs

Computers in the lab are loaded with high-end licensed engineering software like ANSYS a data collection and calculation software.

In this picture students work with TK Solver which is an equation solving software used in engineering practice.
Metal Working Lab

image: students work in the machine shop
A sheet metal project is underway in the student shop area. Every BAE student takes this shop class to understand the propertities of different materials their uses and limitations. When specs out engineering jobs this knowledge if invaluable.

Agricultural Engine Labs

Students in the large engine lab are tooling a tractor with a design project. The ability to retrofit existing equipment is often more valuable to a manufacturer or owner than a new piece of machinery.

AET technology students are taking apart a engine and reassembling it from the bottom up. Some students focus on the agricultural technologies in the AET Program while others prefer working with environmental technologies.
Professional Staffed Laboratories @ BAE

The Research Shop at BAE is staffed by machine shop professionals. Students can request the parts for senior design projects or for student/faculty research projects.

The Environmental Analysis Lab preforms full chemical analyses of environmental samples on, soil, wastes, waste waters, solid waste, solids and plant tissue. The lab is staffed by laboratory professionals. Students may submit requests for sampling that's faculty initiated.
