The Center for Watershed Protection
is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation that provides
local governments, activists, and watershed organizations around
the country with the technical tools for protecting our streams,
lakes and rivers.
Prince
George's County Environmental Resources in Maryland has information
on how low impact development and stormwater management can help reduce
the amount of runoff from property. There are several innovative programs
listed here under Principles and Practices and Biorention.
The Stormwater Manager's
Resource Center is designed specifically for stormwater
engineers and managers, local government officials, and
others needing technical assistance on stormwater management
issues.
The Center for
Urban Water Resources Management conducts research that
focuses on watershed management, including land-cover analyses
and regional geology, streams and the protection of aquatic
resources, water quality and urban stormwater runoff, groundwater
movement and contamination, wastewater treatment, and water
supply.
The University
of North Carolina Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) The
University of North Carolina Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) was
established in 1964 to meet North Carolina's water research needs. It is
one of 54 state water institutes that were authorized by the Water Resources
Research Act of 1964 to administer and promote federal/state partnerships
in research and information transfer on water-related issues.
