Measure 3e:  Conduct employee cross-training

“Conduct training for municipal/county staff on detecting and reporting illicit discharges.”

The NC Cooperative Extension Service has developed a training program for local government employees to learn about how to identify illicit discharges in the field. An extension agent may be able to travel to your jurisdiction and deliver this program to your employees. The NC Cooperative Extension Service also offers a more advanced training program for staff and citizen volunteers that are involved in community volunteer efforts such as the Adopt-A-Stream program so that they will be aware of how to identify and characterize illicit discharges.
