Overview

Stormwater Retrofits for Cape Lookout National Seashore Partnering with the North Carolina Coastal Federation, Cape Lookout National Seashore, the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, and the Carteret County Master Gardeners (NCCES), a series of demonstration stormwater practices are planned for the Harker's Island facilities. Design and some construction will be conducted by Northc Carolina State University Biological and Agriculutural Engineering Department faculty and staff. Potential practices include a permeable pavement path, a pair of "backyard" wetlands, a rain garden, and multiple cistern installations. The first demonstration practices are expected to be constructed by August 2007. Below are potential sites for some of the new BMPs.
