A bioretention cell was constructed in 2003 to treat runoff from a 0.92 ac parking lot that serves the Hal Marshall County Government complex. The site is located in downtown Charlotte - a very urban setting. The cell has been studied cooperatively by NC State University, the City of Charlotte, and Mecklenburg County. It has been extensively tested for removal of pathogen indicator species, metals, and nutrients. Additionally, peak flow reduction was analyzed for this highly urbanized site. Results from this study can be found in Hunt et al. (2008) [Journal of Environmental Engineering]. Monitoring Period: February 2004 - March 2006 Media Depth: 4 ft Media Characteristics: low P-Index (6), media permeability 0.43 in/hr Drainage Configuration: conventional Vegetative Cover: mulch/tree/shrub/perennials |
