Housed in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University, the ¡°Air Quality Engineering & Science¡± program is led by Dr. Lingjuan Wang-Li to conduct leading edge research in monitoring, modeling and mitigating air emissions from agricultural operation systems.
This program aims to bridge the gap between the environmental engineering and the biological and agricultural engineering disciplines by (1) advancing the science-based understanding of air emissions including particulate matter (PM), bioaerosols, as well as pollutant gases in animal feeding operation (AFO) environments, and (2) transferring the new knowledge to students, industries, regulators, and the public.
The focuses of the program include the following areas:
- Air quality monitoring
- Air emission measurement and modeling
- Air pollutant fate and transport modeling
- Air pollution mitigation and control
- Animal housing & animal wellbeing
- Environmental management
