Getting to known you @ Bio & Ag

The department posts general information on new permanent full-time employees both on the web and on building signs and hall boards. Please look at our hall boards to get an idea of what is needed and fill out the new -employee form so we can get your information up promptly.
In your first few weeks of work please supply Carolyn Mitkowski some photos of yourself or make an appointment to have a photo taken. Photos of you and your field work will be used on your web site as well as on the hall board at Weaver Labs..
Faculty Hall Plaque

Full-faculty are given a hall plaque which displays 3-4 photos of the faculty engaged in activities of teaching, research or extension work. The plaque lists type of degree, the university from which it was attained and the city and state if it is not implied in the universities name. Their is a short general work statement indicating the faculty focus such as research, teaching, extension and what is being done in that area.
Professional EPA & Staff Plaques

This plaque includes the persons title, building location, university and degrees earned and it includes a brief statement of the work being done for the department.
Building Directory
At each entrance to the building is a rectory listing The list is updated by the department main secretary so please ask them to add you to the list.
BAE Web Directory
Information from the new-employee form is used to add your name and information to our department database. You will also receive a pre- established people page on the BAE website. Much of the same information supplied for the plaque is used on your people page.
About Web Server Lockers
Web lockers are places where you can store information other than on your computer. Depending on how you use the many types of locker spaces available at NCSU your lockers can provide places to:

Backup and keep your information on a server.

It helps to separate your information into useful tasks.

Keep things private on the server or it can give you choices to open up some of your folder to students only or to the www.
Web Locker Space
There are several different types of web spaces available for faculty and staff at NC State. Our Department information is stored on the College of Engineering COE_EOS server they distribute web locker spaces.
You should store course information in course lockers research information in research lockers, general day to day information in personnel lockers and . To order any type of lockers see the department computer programmer or visit web spaces.
Understanding the College of Engineering Locker setup
- Personnel Private locker- to backup and keep your everyday work information in a server safe place.
- Course lockers -serves students only -You do have one boiler plate page which is open to the www. You may link to this boilerplate and advertise your course. You may also request student course work space.
- Research lockers - Holds research information and can be configured to allow groups of NCSU people (graduate students, other faculty) to access a particular folder in this space. You must manage and designate permission into the folder see locker management on this page.

- People Directory Folder: Your department directory page (people page) example: www.bae.ncsu.edu/people/faculty/glgrabow In the locker (folder) that serves this space only your resume and main photos should reside there. Note: Day to Day information should be stored in your personnel private locker or on your own computer not here......
- Topic Folder: These lockers are used to display faculty sites that have been developed on a particular Biological and Agricultural Engineering topic. These sites are self containing and provide the public with information about research or extension projects. Faculty own the locker and can grant their students permission to upkeep the information on the topic site.
