Present and Future Directions with LID Research

The Low Impact Development-Mid-Atlantic Research Consortium is comprised of the research groups of Robert Traver (Villanova University), Bill Hunt (North Carolina State University), and Allen Davis (University of Maryland).  Collectively, they have over 50 years of research and practical experience on urban stormwater control.  This session will highlight recent research results on bioretention/ bioinfiltration practices and other related stormwater control measures.  Emphasis will be on quantitative performance, design parameters for meeting specific hydrologic and water quality goals, and novel improvements for enhanced pollutant control.  Specific topics to be addressed include quantitative design for calculating bioretention/bioinfiltration volumetric storage, groundwater mounding, and enhanced nitrogen and phosphorus removal.
