Smith Creek and Austin Creek Restorations

Wake Forest, NC

Smith and Austin Creeks are located in Wake Forest, NC. The natural vegetation along the creeks was destroyed by construction and mowing. A team of faculty, technicians, and students associated with the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University has been working to restore these creeks by planting trees along the banks.

As part of the reconstruction, a section of the stream needed to be relocated in order to allow construction on the streambed. This construction was concluded in April 2009.

More information about Smith and Austin Creeks wil be provided shortly
