RC 301 Stream Restoration Design Tools 3 days

River Course 3 class photo

This 3-day workshop provides instruction in advanced stream restoration design concepts. Students will be introduced to sediment transport analysis tools and taught how to prepare simple hydraulic models. The class will be given custom designed spreadsheets and instructed on using them to improve stream designs. Students work in small groups on real-world design projects and use computer software tools to test various design configurations. We will also introduce the use of HEC-RAS, preparing hydraulic models, and explore the capabilities of modeling in stream restoration.

Students will need their own laptop for spreadsheet and modeling applications. This workshop requires completion of RC 101 and RC 201 or equivalent background in stream morphology assessment and natural channel design.
