Workshop participants will visit 6 stream restoration projects in Western North Carolina completed over the past 6 years. These projects range from high-gradient headwater streams to large river stabilization and enhancement projects. Participants will learn about implementation and evaluation of channel relocations, floodplain connections, in-stream structures, streambank stabilization, riparian buffer planting, and innovative habitat enhancements. Instructors will demonstrate post-construction field monitoring techniques for morphology, sediment transport, vegetation, and macroinvertebrate assessment. Participants should have background in stream assessment and restoration implementation. Registration fees include lunch on both days, refreshments, and transportation to the field sites.
