Meet in Chapel Hill at Umstead Park, 399 Umstead Drive at 1:00pm.
Carpool to Carrboro project site at 3:00pm and return to Umstead Park at 4:30pm.
Trinity Court Stream Enhancement: Umstead Park, Chapel Hill
Observe construction on an intermittent tributary to Bolin Creek to stabilize eroding streambanks and restore natural riparian vegetation. This project includes boulder and log steps and lift an incised stream to reconnect the floodplain and reduce erosive forces. Native streambank plants will be used to provide long-term bank stability and habitat enhancement.
Dry Gulch Stream Enhancement: Pacifica, Carrboro
Tour post-construction condition of the Dry Gulch project following construction to stabilize eroding streambanks and restore natural riparian vegetation in a second-order perennial tributary to Bolin Creek. This project includes channel realignment to reduce erosion of a hillslope and boulder vanes to prevent erosion and incision.
