Stream Restoration in the Southeast:
Advancing the Science and Practice
November 3-6, 2008
This four–day conference is your opportunity to learn about stream restoration planning, design, construction, financing, and monitoring in the Southeast. This biennial conference will include research presentations, restoration case studies, industry exhibits, networking opportunities, and tours of local stream restoration projects. Share your knowledge and experiences, learn from and network with other experts, and become involved in shaping the future of stream restoration in the Southeast. You can begin by submitting your abstract and registering for the conference.
Abstract Submission
Abstracts are being sought for oral presentations focused in three main topic areas of stream restoration, including Biology, Engineering and Project Management. To be considered for placement in the program, please go to the link given below to connect to the abstract submittal form. ABSTRACTS MUST BE RECEIVED VIA THE WEB SITE ON OR BEFORE JULY 8, 2008. If your abstract is accepted, it will be published in the Conference Proceedings. You also have the opportunity to submit a paper up to 6-pages in length to be included in the proceedings. The list of topics provided on the abstract submittal form represent the topics that are likely to be reflected in the final conference program. If the subject you wish to address is not listed, please submit your abstract or session proposal to us anyway using the "Miscellaneous" category. Provided your presentation meets the selection criteria, we will do our best to find you a spot on the program.
Before submitting your abstract, please have all the following information ready:

Review
Abstracts should be limited to 300 words in length. Abstracts should communicate clearly and concisely the purpose, findings and results of your topic or study. Abstracts will be reviewed and ranked for acceptance and placement in the program. Papers will be selected for presentation based on their scientific, technical and/or policy merit, currency, and relevance to conference topics. Submissions that are thought provoking and address timely stream restoration, monitoring or permitting issues and new areas of application or study are especially welcomed. Abstracts received after the July 8, 2008 deadline may not be accepted.
Notification of Acceptance/Placement
Successful applicants will be notified on or around the end of August, 2008 whether their abstracts have been selected for oral presentation. If the abstract is accepted, the notification will state the oral session to which the abstract is assigned.
Conference Proceedings
Each applicant whose abstract is accepted for oral presentation will be encouraged to submit a paper (6 pages maximum) expanding on the abstract (you can still present at the conference even if you don’t submit a paper.) First draft of papers will need to be received by September 1, 2008 in order to allow time for review and revision. Final papers will be published as part of the conference proceedings, which will be made available to all conference attendees. Presenters will receive additional information following notification of acceptance into the conference program.
Questions regarding abstracts should be directed to Karen Hall at karen_hall@ncsu.edu.
