ABOUT NWQEP NOTES

The National Water Quality Evaluation Project (NWQEP) was initiated in 1980 through a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant to the North Carolina State University (NCSU) Water Quality Group. The purpose of the grant was to provide technical assistance to 21 watershed-scale projects funded through the Rural Clean Water Program (RCWP). The RCWP was a 15-year federally sponsored experimental program designed to assist farmers in reducing agricultural nonpoint source pollution throughout the country.. NWQEP NOTES - The NCSU Water Quality Group Newsletter originated as part of this effort and has been published since 1983.

The purpose of the newsletter is to provide

NWQEP NOTES is distributed to over 1,800 water quality managers, land treatment specialists, and other natural resource professionals in all 50 states and 14 other countries. Subscriptions are free.

Publication of the newsletter has been supported through grants from USDA (1983 - 1994) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) (1994 - present).
