Municipal and Industrial Water, Wastewater,
and Residuals Management
The broad based extension programs in these areas concentrate on the development
of comprehensive, research based technology transfer and demonstration
programs which encourage and enable the beneficial reuse of by-products.
demonstration projects are on-going in all regions of the state with a
variety of waste or wastewater streams. Efforts are on-going dealing with
pathogen reduction efforts in biosolids and wastewater.
Each waste utilization project involves the development of work groups
composed of local leaders, regulatory agency personnel, and personnel from
the local office of the Cooperative Extension Service. Once established,
these work groups continue to function addressing a variety of environmental
issues.
