Below is a list of electronic supply vendors. Soldering irons rated at 25 to 40 watts will be adequate to use on the annual electric project kits. A light duty rosin-core solder of 60/40 mix with a wire diameter of 0.032 inches is typically used. You will also need soldering iron stands, sponges, and a desoldering iron ("Solder Sucker") for troubleshooting solder joints or removing components. Remember safety is the first priority when soldering. A hot soldering iron tip can reach temperatures of 600 to 700 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in serious burns if touched.
