Upcoming Event: I am presenting a vermicomposting demonstration at Durham's Museum of Life & Science on Tuesday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. Get ready to turn your food scraps into rich compost for your garden and houseplants. Learn how to set up and maintain a worm bin to recycle your food scraps and used paper. Vermicomposting allows you to compost inside, year-round without any odors.

Workshops on VERMICOMPOSTING and COMPOSTING and RECYCLING are offered periodically throughout the year.
If you would like to be notified of upcoming workshops, e-mail me at rhonda_sherman@ncsu.edu and ask to be added to the list. Please indicate the topics of interest to you, such as earthworm farming, vermicomposting at home or in schools, large-scale composting, backyard composting, recycling, waste reduction, etc.

NC State University's 8th Annual Earthworm Farming Conference was held May 19-20, 2008. We had 69 registrants from 18 states and Mexico. For conference details and registration information, go to http://www.bae.ncsu.edu/workshops/worms08/index.htm

NCSU hosted the Commercial Composting and Compost Use 40-hour training course September 8-12, 2008. The widely-hailed compost operator training course was offered by the North Carolina Composting Council, a state committee of the U.S. Composting Council.
