Legacy Faculty

Dr. John Parsons
Professor of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at NC State University
Soil and Water
Biographical
John E. Parsons, was a triple graduate of the department earning his bachelors from Salisbury State College, Maryland in 1973 his M. S. from the University of South Carolina in 1975 and his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in 1987. He was a prominent member of the departments teaching faculty for 20 years. Dr. Parsons introduced a great many students to essential computational engineering methods teaching surface water quality modeling. He began a web based TMDL course and was very involved in the departments computer capabilities for computational modeling.
Dr. Parsons research involved soil and water computational modeling to study the behavior of a complex system by computer simulation. He was erudite in the use of CREAMS, GLEAMS, DRAINMOD- Dm-CREAMS, WATRCOM, and in VISMOD (Vegetative filter strip modeling system) which he developed.
From 2002 to 2005 Parsons coordinated the departments computer resources.
