Biographical
Henry D. Bowen passed in 2003, He served on the faculty in the Department of Biological Engineering for 38 years prior to his retirement in 1991. Bowen came form Michigan State University in 1953 and worked in the area of electrostatic dusting and plant-growth. He received a number of awards for he creativity in teaching and excellence. Bowen infectious enthusiasm and strong ingenuity in his research and teaching activities were an inspiration for many students both at the graduate and undergraduate level. He exemplified the departments motto of "Bringing Engineering to Life" by teaching with enthusiasm.

He received numerous awards form student groups and earned the prestigious industry "Western Electric Award" for the southeast in 1967. At the time of his retirement, the Henry D. Bowen Graduate Fellowship Endowment Fund was established and contributions to this fund continue to honor him and help to support graduate fellowships in the BAE Department.
