Hi!
My name is Bill Hunt. I am an Extension Specialist at NC State University
in the Department of Biological & Agricultural Engineering. I am also
a member of the Neuse Education Team, which is a team formed by North Carolina
Cooperative Extension to provide technical education used to solve water
quality problems within the Neuse River Basin. We are very happy to have
you with us today as we review structural urban stormwater best management
practices. For the next hour and a half, we will be reviewing different
types of practices through an audio and visual lecture. There is also a
publication to review, and if you are interested in receiving professional
development hours, there is a test available to obtain that credit.
The web site consists of 5 different pages:
- First, there is
an overview page, where you are right now. This has links to the lecture,
readings, links and test pages.
- The lecture page
consists of two presentations: a RealPlayer audio visual presentation,
which is basically a slide show including the audio of a typical presentation
that has been given around this state and in surrounding states. This
lasts about 50 min. There is also a PowerPoint presentation to use if
you want to check out the text of a particular slide or go back and
review a diagram in more detail. If you are viewing the site to look
at one type of practice, such as a rain garden or bio-retention area,
please note the Table of Contents in the lower left hand corner of the
lecture page. You can use this as a guide to go directly to the slides
of your choice.
- The third page
in the list is the required readings page. You will be "required"
or at least strongly recommended to read the fact sheet associated with
this lecture. By reading this fact sheet, you will be able to catch
some of the small points not mentioned in the lecture. Also, you must
have that fact sheet read if you are planning to take the test at the
end of the session.
- We do have a links
page. On this page we review the different types of information that
are associated with the presentation, including the Neuse River Basin,
Urban Stormwater Management and NC State University. Please pay particular
attention to the associated fact sheets located at the top of the links
page.
- Finally, if you
are a professional engineer or professional land surveyor and wish to
obtain PDH credits, we will be offering PDH credit with this course.
For a small fee you will be able to obtain 1.5 professional development
hours upon completion of the test. There are instructions associated
with taking this test. I strongly urge you to follow those instructions
prior to taking the test.
I appreciate your time at this web site, and if you have any questions,
there is contact information scattered around the site. It is a real
pleasure to have you with us today and please come back to NC State
and the Neuse River Education Team in the future. Thanks!
