About the workshop:

The purpose of this workshop is to provide training on the use of the Falls Lake Stormwater Nutrient Load Accounting Tool which will be used under the recently passed Falls Lake New Development Stormwater Rule requiring local governments in the Falls Lake Watershed to adopt and implement local stormwater programs by July 2012. The workshop is open to both local government personnel AND professional consultants who work in the Falls Watershed.

A copy of the Falls Lake Rules AND the Tool are available on the DWQ Falls Lake Website:
http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/wq/ps/nps/fallslake

The Falls accounting tool is identical to the tool being used in the Jordan Watershed which is an updated version of the current Tar-Pamlico tool. The old tool, while successfully used for many years has become outdated. The workshop will review why a new tool was needed to better represent known BMP function. The new tool will be discussed in detail, including the technical underpinnings, incorporated research and new features, required input information and generated output information.

Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops, as the tool will be distributed and instructors will walk through an example to demonstrate how the tool works.

This workshop offers 3 PDHs (professional development hours) for professional engineers and surveyors, authorized by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. Other professionals may appeal to their respective boards to obtain professional education credits. We will provide a certificate of attendance at the conclusion of the workshop.

This workshop is offered by: NC State University Department of Biological & Agricultural Engineering.
