500 Series: Monitoring of Restoration
RC 501 Geomorphic Monitoring of Stream Restoration Projects 2 days

Course Description: This 2-day workshop provides an overview of field techniques utilized in geomorphic monitoring of stream restoration projects. Students work in small groups in the field to complete a total station survey of a restored stream. They learn how to survey a longitudinal profile, permanent cross sections, and in-stream structures. Students also learn about field techniques for pebble counts to characterize bed materials. Participants analyze and process the survey data in the classroom using Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD. This workshop requires experience with total station surveys and completion of RC 101 or equivalent background in stream morphology assessment.
