The Economics of Transgenic Crop Adoption: Farm Level and Regional Implications

Long-Term Objectives:

1. To evaluate the long-term, regional impacts of transgenic crops on profitabiliy and water quality.

2. To evaluate the economics of various resistance management strategies with the new crops and educate agents and growers on the most profitable, long-run strategies.


Short-term Objectives:

1. To track the adoption of transgenic crops in the Southeast and determine the factors affecting adoption.

2. To evaluate the farm-level cost and benefit of transgenic crop adoption.

3. To provide information to agents as study results are achieved.


Accomplishments

1. This study is just getting underway, so no accomplishments can be documented at this time.


Future Plans

1. To evaluate the economics of various Best Management Practices for water quality improvement.

2. To determine the cost and benefits of precision farming tecbniques.
