Construction of Stream Restoration Projects About the Workshop This workshop provides an overview of considerations for the construction of stream restoration projects. Topics addressed include stream restoration design approaches, design and construction of structures frequently used in stream restoration, sediment and erosion control techniques, and riparian vegetation selection and planting. A field tour allows participants to visualize channel relocations, floodplain connections, in-stream structures, streambank stabilization, riparian planting, and habitat enhancements. The Hiwassee River Watershed, where this workshop takes place, contains over 50,000 linear feet of restored stream, ranging from recently constructed to seven years old. These stream projects represent a variety of stream types, with several different design approaches. Instructors
