James (Greg) Lewis, Accounting Technician Receives 2010 SPA Award

James (Greg) Lewis, Accounting Tech. III has a pleasing personality and is easy to work with whether you are a student, staff or faculty. Greg has done an exceptional job in handling BAE research and teaching finances. Finances are a critical aspect of our department's success and Greg has performed responsibly in his accounting role. We can always count on him to provide current departmental and faculty budgetary information. Greg is a person who is proactive in solving issues, responsive to people’s requests, helpful in monitoring money exchanges and managing spending deadlines. Greg also assures that funds are allocated correctly.
If a situation arises that Greg has not come across before, he makes an effort to find all the relevant information and resolve the issue. Greg is aware and sensitive of the many financial requirements and levels of accounting involved in spending government and university funds and he always keeps the best interest of each person he interacts with in mind. He goes above and beyond to find out about small details important to purchasing and agency reporting. Greg also assists students who are learning how to correctly purchase items for department projects to assure that things move along smoothly. Keeping track of many projects is challenging, but Greg seems to have mastered the job. He is prompt, pays attention to detail, and is always willing to help. Greg is a hardworking, resourceful, and pleasant individual, and we truly value his reliability. We are lucky to have Greg in our department!
